Biography:
Always the most experimental of the major songwriters within the band, Grace was in the audience at Jefferson Airplane's public debut at "The Matrix" in 1965. She went on to form the near-legendary Great Society, who regularly supported Jefferson Airplane between October 1965 and October 1966, when she replaced Signe Anderson in the Airplane. Her long-running relationship with Paul Kantner was one of the most influential factors in the development of the Airplane and Jefferson Starship in the late-60s and early-70s. Legendary for her wild lifestyle, she freely admits to having little memory of the 1960s, and is still considered to be one of the most liberated and independant women in the World today. Having retired from full-time recording and performing in 1991, she now devotes much of her time to animal rights campaigning and other good causes. Her last appearance with the band was the January 1995 Papa John Creach Memorial concert, where she guested on the final few songs. This performance was released on CD later in the year as "Deep Space / Virgin Sky.". In 1999, she published her autobiography, "Somebody To Love".

Trivia:
Grace was such an easy-going child that her family nick-named her "Grouser."

She was educated at Finch College, NY (1957-58), and the University of Miami (1958-59), where she majored in art.

Before getting into music, she worked as a model at I. Magnin's (1960-63).

While not an official member of the band at the time, Grace contributed uncredited backing vocals to the 1980 Jefferson Starship LP "Freedom At Point Zero."

Her collaboration with Linda Perry came about through Perry's friendship with Grace's daughter, China.
