Mickey Thomas

Singer 1979 - Present (Starship)

Name: Mickey Thomas
Born: Dec 3, 1949, Cairo, GA
Spouse: Sara Kendrick, (8/8/84 - Present)

Biography:
Bought into the band to replace Marty Balin, Mickey was a former singer with the Elvin Bishop Group. His inclusion in the band drove them towards a more harder "Stadium Rock" style. This, plus his battle with Paul Kantner for control of the band, would eventually lead to Kantner's departure to form the KBC Band with Marty Balin and Jack Casady, and the transformation of Jefferson Starship into "pop-rockers" Starship. Following the departures of first Pete Sears, then Grace Slick and eventually Craig Chaquico and Don Baldwin, he remains the only band member from their hit-making days of "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".

He originally signed with Jefferson Starship for two albums, but ended up staying for 11 years.

As an ordained minister, he officiated at fellow band-member Craig Chaquico's wedding in 1986.
