Pete Sears

Bass Player/Keyboards/Major Songwriter 1974 - 87

Name: Pete Sears
Born: May 27, 1948, Newcastle-on-Tyne, England
Spouse: Jeanette, (? - Present)

Biography:
A former member of Bay area bands Copperhead and Stoneground, and a respected session musician, Pete Sears joined Jefferson Starship in 1974 replacing Peter Kaukonen. He rapidly became one of the bands major songwriters, penning more recorded songs than either Paul Kantner or Grace Slick. He continued with the band through the transition fron Jefferson Starship to Starship, before quitting the band in May 1987 when they filmed the video for "It's Not Over ('Til It's Over)" without his knowledge. The band claimed that this was because he had not played on the studio recording, but the fact that none of his songs had been recorded by the band for three years may also have contributed to his decision. After leaving Starship, he formed a short lived and unnamed trio with Frank Marino and Aynsley Dunbar before eventually joining Hot Tuna.
